Software as a service is referred to as “SaaS”. It is one of the most commonly used options for businesses in the cloud market. There are several reasons behind it – all the user need is an internet connection and a browser – and it’s hands-off. Cloud makes the business more comfortable and easy as it is so easy to operate.

While there are many end users who can do self-provision SaaS technology on their own, On the other hand, it’s found that they need a third party who can help them with integration, customization, and security.

Software as a Service (SaaS ) Defined

SaaS is a model of software development in which a third-party provider builds applications on cloud infrastructure and after it makes them available to customers via the internet. This simply means that SaaS is easy to be accessed from any device with an internet connection and web browser rather than just on some local machines where it is installed, as with traditional software.

As it is defined by the National Institute of Standard Technology (NIST), Customers can deploy SaaS in one of these three models :

1. Private Cloud

Cloud software is built on such an infrastructure that is provisioned for exclusive use by a single organization comprising multiple consumers. Organizations may own, manage and operate such infrastructure.

2. Public Cloud

Cloud software is built on such an infrastructure that is provisioned for open use by the public. Businesses may own, manage and operate such infrastructure. This exists on the premises of the cloud provider.

3. Hybrid Cloud

Cloud software is primarily built on one type of such infrastructure but it is capable to switch to another during there is high demand. SaaS provides such an alternative for standard software installation in the business environment, where the user has to build his/her server, install the application and configure it.

The user and the user’s organization have the authority to access and use it for a time period and pay for the software that you are using.

Benefits Of SaaS

However there are several benefits of using SaaS, but there are following some of the advantages of using SaaS :

1. Lower cost

SaaS helps to save the costs of the user. It is considered to be pocket friendly as usually resides in a shared or multi-tenant environment, where the license cost of hardware and software is comparatively much less than the traditional model.

One of the other benefits of SaaS is that user can scale rapidly their base of customers since SaaS allows small and medium businesses to use software that otherwise they wouldn’t utilize because of the expensive license fees.

2. Easy to use and Perform proof-of-concepts

SaaS allows users to do proofs-of-concept and test the software functionality or a new release feature in advance.

3. New Releases (upgrades )

With the help of SaaS, the provider upgrades the solution and it becomes available for their customers.

4. Scalability and integration

In SaaS, users don’t need to buy another server or software. All a user need to enable and access a new SaaS offering and, in terms of server capacity planning.

5. Reduced time to benefit

Software as a Service (SaaS) is totally different from the traditional model because the software in it is already installed and configured. This helps to reduce the time which will spend on installation and configuration and can reduce the issues that get in the way of the deployment of software.
